(Reuters) Olympique Marseille broke into the top three in Ligue 1 after being scored 2-0 by Sunday's Boubacar Kamara and Kevin Strootman in a struggle in Strasbourg.

In the race calendars at the start of the day, Monaco eased a 3-2 defeat with Rennes' last whip, while Girondins Bordeaux suffered a 1-0 rebound on a visit to St Etienne.

Kamara seduced a third minute at the opening of the 1993 European Cup champions in Marseille by opening goalkeeper Matz Sels.

The home team then missed several opportunities as Croatian defender Duje Caleta-Car and Serbian winger Nemanja Radonjic hit the woodwork, while Argentine Dario Benedetto dispelled long-range shots.

Wissam Ben Yedder caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 90 minutes. This gave Monaco the 1 - 0 lead. Faitout Maouassa and Adrien Hunou were given a gift!

Algerian striker Islam Slimani, on loan from Leicester City to Monaco, tied for home fans in the 56th minute before Ben Yedder rejoiced the home team in the 14th place, two points out of the bottom three.
